Exterior
The exterior of the home is complete. The stucco work was done thanks to the combined efforts
of Dave Atwater owner of Plastercraft, Mike Hamnquist owner of H and M plastering, and material from Expo
Building Supplies.
The new vinyl siding was provided compliments of Jackson Stone and Patio and Al Benson.
A beautiful stamped colored concrete sidewalk replaces what was a dirt pathway to the front door.

Painting, Carpeting, Doors, Trimming
All painting (interior and exterior) was done by Excellence in Painting.
Carpeting for the new rooms by Casa Interior, Abbey Carpet.
The interior doors and trim material were given by the folks of Esau Supply, and
all was installed by Ian’s brother Morgan.

Bathroom
The bathroom is starting to take on a finished look. Cabinets by LT Design, counter
tops by Marble Works of San Diego, Tile installation by Charmet Tile, and material compliments of
Arizona Tile. All the plumbing fixtures were the generous gift from Shelly, Dennis, and the folks
at El Cajon Plumbing.

Drywall
The room is completely insulated by Spring Valley Insulation, drywall work by Dean Hopkey
Owner of CDH Drywall and ready for the finishing touches.

Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing
The rough electric wiring, plumbing lines, and mechanical unit and ductwork have been installed
and ready for inspection. Thanks to Dave Lowery and the crew of U.D. Electric for their work including a new
200-amp service panel. "U.D." stands for Uncle Dave since he has three of his nephews working for
him.
ASI Hastings, Carrier and York provided a new central heating and air conditioning unit for
the addition and the existing home so the future foster children will be warm in the winter and cool in the
summer. Armando Samaniego Owner of Plumbing Concepts is an independent small business Owner / Operator, who
has generously given his time and talents for the new bathroom plumbing work and relocated gas meter.

Roofing
A perfect example of how this project went was when we asked Kirk Bowman and Dave Mann of Patriot Roofing
what they could contribute in way of the roofing. Kirk contacted the San Diego Roofing Contractors Association which chose
the Davies' home as their annual community service project.
The existing dilapidated roofs of both the main home and detached garage were completely removed, with
new 40 year composition roofing, flashing, and rain gutters installed. All at no cost to the Davies.
Thanks to everyone involved in the roofing portion of the project!

Framing
Many thanks to the efforts of H. A. Zarlin Construction, La Mesa Lumber, and Ramona Truss, the addition is now framed and
ready for the next stage.
H. A. Zarlin's framing crews are hard working and respectful to all, a pleasure
to work with. La Mesa Lumber is a family owned lumberyard and building products company who has
been located in the heart of La Mesa since 1945 and Ramona Truss has provided Charco with roof
trusses for over 20 years.

Sub-Floor Framing
The perimeter concrete foundation and insulated raised floor framing with plywood
decking is ready for the walls to be built.

Sub-Flooring
The raised floor structural framing is built at a height to match with the
existing interior floor elevation. Even though this is a more expensive type of construction
than a slab on grade, we did this to eliminate steps inside the home. Saving space and making
the home safer for the children.

Foundation
Under the expert supervision of Jim Brawley, from F.J. Brawley Concrete, the foundation
for the Davies home was completed.
Charco Construction & Kerry and Ian Davies would like to thank the following companies
